"Bab-buh"

Today is a beautiful day from 4 stories up. I haven't been out yet, but it sure looks nice from up here. So here is a story that completely warmed my heart last week.

Ari has been saying a couple of words here and there, she says mama, dada, and "I" on a regular basis. Her main source of communication is meaningful hand signing and "uh". If she wants food she usually points and gives a grunt. It was quiet as picked Ari up out of her bed (Isaac was still sleeping). As I held her on my hip, I started cleaning up a few of her animals and toys. She spotted her baby doll in the stuffed animal basket, out of blue I hear a small voice say "Babuh". I look over at Ari, she repeats, "Babuh" and points to her baby. A very sweet moment. My daughter used a word to ask for what she wanted.

Life is Good and a dentist appointment

I feel like I need to write something because life is so happy. As we speak, Isaac is playing under a sheet playing an imaginary game with dinosaurs. I especially like the high voice he uses when he is pretending, it kind of sounds like Mickey Mouse. Ari is playing in the bedroom, probably making some kind of fun, curious, mischief. But, she is in the bedroom, which is much better than the kitchen, so I hope she is having a good time.

Zach is at work and I am getting myself ready for my first real dentist appointment in 5 years! I say "real" because I had one a month before Ari was born but my gums were bleeding so bad, the dental assistant stopped cleaning them before she even got to the bottom and said "I am sorry, I feel too bad hurting a pregnant woman, you can come back in a few months and we will do a full cleaning then. Your insurance won't cover 2 cleanings within 2 months of each other, but it will be worth it." Needless to say, I did not go back. Strike one, that was pretty painful, strike to I would have to pay to have that done again? No thanks!

So, I am trying to get relaxed about this dentist thing. I am trying to think of it as "hypno-dentistry". Maybe if I can relax it will hurt less? It worked with giving birth. We shall see.
